OUR SAVIOR’S WEEKLY LETTER
Let go and let God! That simple saying is rooted in a familiar verse found in this Sunday’s Epistle: Cast all your anxieties upon Him because He cares for you.(1 Peter 5:7) What a blessing to know that our loving Lord and Savior is not only with us, but is also for us, ready to come to our aid and carry all our burdens. In the following verses from his letter, Peter warns against the devil who prowls about like a li0n, seeking to devour us. Satan often uses worry, fear, guilt and discouragement to undermine our faith. We readily become distracted and overwhelmed by the problems and challenges that we face. Take courage and be of good cheer. Our almighty and all-merciful Father is there to take those burdens from us, freeing us for loving and joyful service in His Kingdom. Daily apply these words from a familiar hymn:
Are we weak and heavy laden cumbered with a load of care? Precious Savior, still our Refuge, take it to the Lord in prayer. (LSB #770, Joseph Scriven) .
